About

Hi, I'm the developer behind DoggByte. There's no team, no startup office with a ping-pong table, and no committee. It's just me, a keyboard, and more years of professional programming than I like to say out loud.
A few decades in
I've been writing software for a living for a very long time. I've seen languages and frameworks come and go, survived more "revolutionary" rewrites than I can count, and learned the hard way that the boring, well-tested solution usually wins. Everything here is built with that experience behind it.
Written by a human
Every line of code in DoggByte products is written by me, a real person who has been known to talk to a bug for twenty minutes before realising it was a typo.
I do use AI as a helper, mostly for refactoring and documentation. Think of it as a very fast, very patient colleague who tidies up and writes things down, while I decide what gets built and how. It doesn't write the code, and it definitely doesn't get to take the credit (or the blame).
Why "DoggByte"?
Because good software, like a good dog, should be loyal, dependable, and come when it's called. Also, I couldn't resist the pun. I regret nothing.
Say hello
I'm not much into social media. Posting, scrolling and refreshing for likes just isn't my thing, so you won't find me chasing followers. The best way to reach me is good old email: doggbyte@bert2go.com. A real person will read it, and will usually even reply.
Curious about something I've made? Take a look at the products.
