Privacy
The short version: this website doesn't use cookies, doesn't show ads, doesn't follow you around the web and doesn't share anything about you with anyone. It does count visits, using cookieless analytics that run on a server I control and that don't build a profile of you. The only other thing I receive is a message you choose to send through the contact form, explained below. The longer version is below, for anyone who likes to check.

What this website doesn't do
- No cookies. The site never sets one.
- No cross-site tracking. No tracking pixels, advertising networks, session recording or fingerprinting. Nothing here follows you to other websites.
- No accounts or sign-ups. There's nothing to register for and no newsletter list.
- No third parties. Every script, style, image and font on a page comes from this site itself. Nothing is loaded from an outside service, so nobody else learns that you visited. The visit statistics described below go to my own analytics server, and nowhere else.
- No selling or sharing of your data. There is nothing to sell, and I don't share it.
Visitor statistics
I'd like to know which pages are read and which are not, so the site reports each page view to OpenPanel, an open-source analytics tool that I run on my own server. Your browser sends it a small message with the page you opened, the page you came from (the referrer), the address of an outside link when you click one, and your browser, operating system and device type. The server works out your approximate location, down to the city, from your IP address.
None of this uses cookies or anything stored in your browser. To tell one visit from another, the analytics server turns your IP address and browser details into a scrambled code with a secret that changes every day. According to OpenPanel's documentation, the raw IP address is thrown away after that and the code can't be turned back into you, and tomorrow you get a different code. So I can see how many people read a page today, but I can't follow one person from day to day or from site to site. I don't use any of it for advertising, I don't sell it, and it isn't shared with anyone.
If you'd rather not be counted, a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection will stop the messages, and the site works exactly the same without them.
The one thing stored in your browser
The theme button in the header cycles between System, Light and Dark. If you pick Light or Dark, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name theme, so the site looks the way you asked the next time you visit. It's saved only when you click the button, it stays on your device, and it is never sent to me or anyone else. It isn't a cookie and it can't identify you. Choosing System removes it, and you can clear it any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Hosting and technical data
Like any website, loading a page means your browser sends a request, which includes your IP address and basic details such as the page you asked for and your browser type. This site is served from a server I control, and your request isn't routed through a third-party CDN or proxy. The website's own code doesn't record, log or store those requests, and passes nothing on to anyone. The server software may handle that information briefly in order to deliver pages and keep the site secure. I don't use it to identify, profile or track anyone. The visit statistics above are separate and are described there.
The domain's DNS records are managed with Cloudflare. That only answers the question "where is this domain?". Cloudflare doesn't sit between you and the site, and it doesn't see the pages you visit.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you type are sent to me by email so I can reply. That's the only purpose. The spam check on the form runs on this site, with no outside service, and the message isn't stored on the website itself. To limit spam, your IP address is held in the server's memory for up to an hour so one address can't send a flood of messages. It is never written to disk. If you'd like something I received from you deleted, ask and I will.
Other sites
Some pages link to other places, such as GitHub, where the software is downloaded, and Ko-fi, where licenses are bought. Once you follow a link you're on their site, and their own privacy policies apply. This policy covers this website only. What each tool does with your data is described on its own product page.
Changes and questions
If anything here changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If you have a question about privacy, email me at doggbyte@bert2go.com.
