Terms of Service
These are the ground rules for using this website. They're short and in plain English. By using the site you agree to them, and if you don't, please don't use the site.

What these terms cover
These terms cover this website, its pages and its blog. The software I make has its own license, which you'll find on each product page and in the product's repository. Those licenses apply to the software, and these terms apply to the website. Buying a Pro license, or anything else through a third party, is covered by that third party's terms as well.
Using the site
You're welcome to read, browse and share links to anything here. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for. In return, please don't:
- Attack, overload or try to break into the site or the server it runs on.
- Scrape it so aggressively that it slows the site down for other people.
- Use it to do anything illegal, or to harm other people.
I may block access, or change or remove parts of the site, at any time and without notice.
The content
Unless a page says otherwise, the text, images and design of this site are © DoggByte, all rights reserved. You may quote short extracts, with a clear link back to the page they came from. Please don't republish whole pages or posts elsewhere without asking first.
Names, logos and products of other companies belong to those companies. I use them to say what I'm talking about, and I'm not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by them unless a page says so.
Blog posts and opinions
I try hard to get facts right and to link to where they come from, but I can get things wrong and things change. Opinion pieces are my own opinions and are labelled as such. Nothing here is legal, financial or professional advice, so check anything important for yourself before acting on it. If you spot a mistake, tell me and I'll correct it.
Software and downloads
Product pages describe my software and link to where it can be downloaded, which is usually a GitHub repository. What you can do with a download is set by that product's own license. The descriptions and screenshots on this site are there to help you decide, and the software itself remains the final word on what it does.
Software: no warranty and no liability
You use my software at your own risk. It's built with care, but no software is perfect, so please keep backups of anything that matters. That includes data protected by a passphrase, which can't be recovered if you forget it.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT IT WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED OR SECURE. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE, INCLUDING ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS, DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICES OR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF I HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
This applies alongside each product's own license, and it doesn't limit any right or liability that can't legally be limited, such as your rights as a consumer where you live.
Links to other sites
This site links to places I don't control, such as GitHub and Ko-fi. I'm not responsible for what's on them, how they treat your data, or what they charge. Their own terms and policies apply once you leave.
The website: no warranty, and limits on liability
The website is provided "as is" and "as available". I don't promise that it will always be up, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the website or relying on what's on it. Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that can't legally be limited, such as your rights as a consumer where you live.
Privacy
How the site treats your data is explained on the privacy page. The short version is that it doesn't collect any.
Changes and questions
I may update these terms from time to time. When I do, I'll change the date at the top, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version. If you have a question about them, email me at doggbyte@bert2go.com.
